Department of History FF UPJŠ in Košice: Old Traditions – New Beginnings The article is devoted to the establishment of the Department of History at the Faculty of Arts of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice in 2008. It summarizes the prerequisites for the successful activity of the Department, in terms of historical, personal, and institutional aspects. Based on analyzed documents and personal experience, it creates a picture of the events that led to the establishment of the Department and analyzes the problems that had to be solved for its successful integretion into the structures of UPJŠ. Special attention is paid to the role of Ferdinand Uličný and Ladislav Tajták in the accreditation process and the formation of the department in its first years of existence. |
