الوصف: In principle, the concept of readability could roughly be classified as the assessment of texts towards the “reading level” through “readability formulas,” thus as the ability or inability of readers to understand the texts. The readability of texts can be determined by a variety of factors, including the words used, the average number of syllables per word, sentence structure, and sentence length. In order for texts to be appropriately matched to readers with varying abilities, assessing text readability is crucial. This scientific field is not new, and since the 1940s, evaluating text readability has been a significant area of research. The majority of studies originate from English-speaking countries and are primarily targeted at the resident audience; therefore, they focus mainly on individuals whose mother tongue is English. The requirements and characteristics of the target readers are often considered when selecting criteria for measuring readability. Although the text comprehension of foreign language learners can vary greatly, the majority of the research to date has evaluated readability indices that were determined by native speakers. Due to the different language acquisition rates between foreign language and native speakers, the emphasis on readability measures often varies. The academic success of students is likely heavily influenced by how easily they can understand textbooks. Texts that are complex to understand are sometimes seen as uninteresting, which can make it difficult to absorb and learn the material. This study attempts to go beyond the usual methods of word frequency analysis from text corpora, which are considered to reflect common language experiences. Instead, it experiments with the use of readability formulas to assess text comprehension, with the hope that this could positively affect teaching efficiency. To investigate this, a textbook is randomly selected and a specific teaching unit is examined as a case study, presenting the findings. ; Prinzipiell könnte man den Begriff ...
