الوصف: The text arises from participation in the round table with the theme: “The advancement of the extreme right and the challenges of Marxist Pedagogies today”, held on October 30, 2023, at the XVI Jornada do Histedbr, held in João Pessoa, at the Federal University of Paraíba (between October 30th and November 1st, 2023. The central theme of this 16th Histedbr journey was the 40th year of the book Escola e Democracia: historical contribution and new challenges, by Dermeval Saviani. Regarding the round table, it articulates two aspects: the advance of the extreme right and the challenges that this advance poses for Marxist Pedagogies. I sought to address these two issues from the studies I have carried out and which take me to the deep structural crises of capitalism and which is a process that is both destructive - of the capitalist mode of production - but also of transition to a new way of producing material, social and spiritual life. In this historical process, as part of the historical-social totality , is education, which also plays a contradictory role. In this historical process, education does not have a position in determining the direction of transformation, but this does not mean that it does not play an important role, training new generations in accordance with contradictory interests and which are expressed in struggles between the fundamental classes of bourgeois society. - either to deepen alienation (from the perspective of capital) or for the critical formation of new generations (from the perspective of historical transformation and critical formation).
