This text focuses on the analysis of key tensions within Latin American school education, with a specific focus on the Chilean context, arising in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and intertwining with pre-existing critical situations. It identifies intra-system tensions, namely, a significant decline in learning outcomes, a growing rise in disengagement from schooling, and critical issues regarding school climate. Subsequently, it addresses macropolitical concerns linked to state rigidity, the diminishing social value of schools, authorities, and educators, as well as emerging demands to which schools lack clear responses. These elements present significant challenges for new designs and practices in schools, which educational leaders must consider in light of the increasing and simultaneous tasks they face. ; O texto se enfoca na análise de algumas tensões-chave na educação escolar latino-americana, com referência especial ao caso chileno, que surgiram após a pandemia da COVID-19 e que estão relacionadas a situações críticas prévias. A partir disso, são identificadas as tensões intrassistema, a saber, a queda significativa na aprendizagem, o aumento crescente da desescolarização e as situações críticas de convivência nas escolas, para em seguida abordar questões de macropolíticas, relacionadas à rigidez do Estado, à perda de valor social da escola, das autoridades e dos professores, e às novas demandas às quais a escola não sabe como responder. Esses elementos geram grandes desafios para a implementação de novos projetos e de práticas escolares que os líderes educacionais precisam considerar diante das crescentes e simultâneas tarefas que precisam cumprir. ; El texto se enfoca en el análisis de algunas tensiones claves de la educación escolar latinoamericana, con especial referencia al caso chileno, que emergen tras la pandemia de COVID-19 y que se conectan con situaciones críticas previas.
