The present work has as main objective to approach how religious elements were presented in coinage. For this, we will use a small selection, composed of eight monetary types dating from the 1st century BC, minted in the Roman Republic. Religion in Antiquity was not dissociated from other strata of experience and expectations, it was mixed in the field of experience of the subjects. In this way, religious elements (images, rituals, songs, etc.) are constitutive aspects of identities. The link of the Ceres deity with plebeian groups was also evident in the monetary types, therefore, this relationship was communicated at the same time that it was monumentalized. ; O presente trabalho tem como principal objetivo abordar como os elementos religiosos eram apresentados nas cunhagens da República romana durante o século I a.C. Para tal, utilizarei uma pequena seleção, composta por oito tipos monetários batidos no período. A religião na Antiguidade não era desassociada de outros estratos de vivência; ela se misturava no campo de experiência e expectativas dos sujeitos. As distintas divindades que compunham o panteão romano e suas qualidades divinas, como libertas e pietas, eram mobilizadas na elaboração dos repertórios imagéticos dos tipos monetários. Consequentemente, o uso destes elementos religiosos visava a monumentalização de certas noções e identidades. |
