| الوصف: | The American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) supports screening for cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors in adults in order to assess CVD risk and identify those individuals who require treatment. This paper discusses the magnitude of CVD in the United States, and the recommendations in various guidelines for screening for major CVD risk factors: high blood pressure, hypercholesterolemia, diabetes mellitus and obesity. AMWA believes that proper screening for these risk factors, followed by lifestyle and pharmacological treatment, as appropriate, will reduce the magnitude of CVD in the United States. |
