Noise-induced hearing loss is characterized by the normal comprehension of language in a quiet environment situation, but with difficulty in understanding in the presence of background noise. We aimed at assessing the adaptation of hearing aids by “open fittings”. 60 hypoacusic subjects, mean age 57 years, were evaluated. They all underwent audiometry and impedenzometry, in situ audiometry by hearing aids, with open and with closed ventilation. The final goal was to evaluate the efficacy of the applied software and, through way in and out questionnaires, auditive modifications due to the hearing aids, as well as eventual specific problems due to the models applied. The results obtained showed an improved auditive capacity in 60 hypoacusic subjects at 13, 19, 16, 15 dB respectively for frequency bands of 1, 2, 3, 4, KhZ. Ten subjects, of which 5 classified as Merluzzi stage 4c, and 5 as Merluzzi stage 5c, did not show any significant improvement of the auditive function. The analysis of the results obtained demonstrated that open fitting hearing aids give different results depending on the type of deficit, but, anyway, do significantly improve the auditive function in several types of deafness. |
