José María Gil-Robles was one of the great figures of the 20th century Spanish right. He wrote and edited a lot but was not known the existence of the political chronicles that he published in the magazine La Estrella del Mar between 1921 and 1924. In these chronicles the catholic writer offered his passionate point of view on events in Spain and the world, exhibiting an essentially reactionary and illiberal ideology, sometimes not at odds with certain doses of pragmatism. Despite their remarkable candor, the articles in La Estrella del Mar are useful for discovering key interpretations of Gil-Robles from the Republican years. ; José María Gil-Robles fue una de las grandes figuras de la derecha española del siglo XX. Escribió y editó mucho, pero no se sabía de la existencia de las crónicas políticas que publicó en la revista La Estrella del Mar entre 1921 y 1924. En esas crónicas, el escritor católico ofreció su apasionado punto de vista sobre los sucesos de España y del mundo, exhibiendo un ideario esencialmente reaccionario y antiliberal, no reñido en ocasiones con ciertas dosis de pragmatismo. A pesar de su notable candidez, los artículos de La Estrella del Mar resultan útiles para descubrir claves interpretativas del Gil-Robles de los años republicanos. |
