This paper studies the reception of Vico in the Spanish daily press between 1840 and 1868. In the context of the dialectic between traditionalists and liberals, the New Science is synonymous with the Philosophy of History and Vico is seen a genius misunderstood in his time, but happily discovered for the projection of the “century of progress”.
