We present the result of the study of the numismatic materials guarded in the funds of the Consorcio de la Ciudad Monumental, Histórico-Artística y Arqueológica de Mérida, found in emiral archaeological context (92-300/711-912) in Mérida´s municipal area. We relate these pieces to their archaeological and historical context, analyse data on their type and quantity, the presence or absence of Roman and Visigothic pieces, and unusual uses for coins. Finally, we compare this data with the numismatic record of contemporary sites such as Tolmo de Minateda (Albacete), Vega Baja (Toledo) orŠaqunda(Córdoba), important settlements in Iberian Peninsula in the 8th-9th centuries. The final objective is to glimpse the use, in different spaces, of the numismatic material that have been found in these archaeological strata, as well as a monetary pattern that relates the type of control of the territory and the settlement of population during the Umayyad conquest of al-Andalus. ; Presentamos el resultado del estudio de los materiales numismáticos depositados en los fondos del Consorcio de la Ciudad Monumental, Histórico-Artística y Arqueológica de Mérida, hallados en contexto arqueológico emiral (92-300/711-912), en el actual término municipal emeritense. En él, ponemos en relación estas piezas con su contexto arqueológico e histórico, analizamos datos sobre su tipología y cantidad, la presencia o ausencia de moneda romana y visigoda, y usos no habituales de las monedas. Finalmente, comparamos los datos obtenidos con el registro numismático de yacimientos coetáneos como Tolmo de Minateda (Albacete), Vega Baja (Toledo) o Šaqunda (Córdoba), importantes casos de estudio en la Península Ibérica para los siglos VIII-IX. El objetivo final es vislumbrar el uso, en diversos espacios, del material numismático hallado en dicho horizonte arqueológico, así como un patrón monetario que relacione el tipo de control del territorio y el asentamiento de población durante la conquista omeya de al-Andalus. |
