| الوصف: | The report analyzes the possibilities of the recultivation of deforested areas by utilizing sewage sludge. The amount of sewage sludge is constatly increasing while the possibilities of its utilization are very limited. The report describes the analysis of pure samples as well as sample combinations of the following elements: the soil obtained from a deforested area, fresh sewage sludge and old sewage sludge. A biotesting method was employed in the reasearch. Soil samples were obtained from a 2-year-old deforested area in Raudondvaris, the Kaunas division of the Directorate of State Forests. Fresh and old (5-year-old) sewage sludge samples were collected from the Ežerėlis sludge storage site of a Kaunas water management company. Lepidium sativum L. test led to the conclusion that fresh sludge is toxic, while the toxicity of 5-year-old sludge is very low. Upon combining the samples of sludge and soil, it was determined that such a combination may have a stimulating effect on the growth of Lepidium savitum L. This was particularly obvious from the soil and old sludge combination samples. In conclusion, the reasearch proves the hypothesis that sewage sludge can be used for recultivation of wasted deforested areas. However, the amount and the age of sludge must always be kept in consideration. |
