| الوصف: | Water has become the most strategic resource of any country, due to progressive factors such as agriculture, livestock, electricity production, among others. With the increasing use of this medium, the watersheds have presented constant degradation of the quality of their waters. The municipality of Almenara-MG, Brazil, is located in the Northeast of the state, in the microregion of Baixo Jequitinhonha, bathed by the waters of the Jequitinhonha River, serving as a source for the activities of rural producers in the region, a group consisting mostly of small farmers who seek immediate results by taking their products to be marketed weekly. Given the great importance of this natural resource, both for human health and for agriculture, the present work aims to evaluate the quality of the water used in lettuce management in the municipality of Almenara-MG, using the physical and chemical variables that, in turn, indicate the changes that occurred in the microbasin, whether of anthropic or natural origin and that may compromise the development of lettuce. The main bibliographic materials used for the construction of the theoretical part of this project were scientific articles, monographs and books found in the database of Google Scholar and Scielo. ; El agua se ha convertido en el recurso más estratégico de cualquier país, debido a factores progresivos como la agricultura, la ganadería, la producción de electricidad, entre otros. Con el creciente uso de este medio, las cuencas hidrográficas han presentado una degradación constante de la calidad de sus aguas. El municipio de Almenara-MG, Brasil, está ubicado en el noreste del estado, en la microrregión de Baixo Jequitinhonha, bañada por las aguas del río Jequitinhonha, sirviendo como fuente para las actividades de los productores rurales de la región, un grupo formado en su mayoría por pequeños agricultores que buscan resultados inmediatos llevando sus productos para ser comercializados semanalmente.
