| الوصف: | Trabalho de conclusão de curso (graduação) - Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, Centro de Ciências Sociais e Humanas, Curso de Ciências Econômicas, RS, 2016. ; The proposal of the present study is to analyze the organization of the rice milling industry in Brazil and in the state of Rio Grande do Sul between the years of 2001 and 2011. This study seeks to understand how did the market concentration evolved, how the industries invest and to know if the main industries of Rio Grande do Sul apply diversification strategies, be them of brand, product or activity. It is also an objective of this study to know how did evolve the productivity of the sector, net and gross excess margins and mark-up. To achieve those objectives, it was used the structure-conduct-performance paradigm of industrial organization theory. The data was obtained together with IBGE, IRGA and SINDARROZ institutes. While doing this present study, it was noted that the process of concentration of the sector has decreased in relation to the past two decades. The volume benefited had an upward trend during the studied period. It is noteworthy that the largest companies in Rio Grande do Sul use diversification strategies of brands, products and activities of the firm. The investment rate had also an upward trend, due mainly to investments in machinery and equipment. This constant investment in machinery and equipment appears to be an industry response to a certain stagnation of productivity per employee linked to production. It is also worth to note that companies have increased their exports while facing stagnant domestic demand. ; O presente trabalho tem como proposta analisar a agregação de valor e a organização da indústria de beneficiamento de arroz no Brasil e Rio Grande do Sul entre os anos de 2001 a 2011.
