| الوصف: | The paper begins by defining the language-internal multilingualism of German. It then underlines the importance of German as a pluricentric language and emphasises the necessity of making learners of German aware of the different varieties of the language. The practical section presents a series of exercises that can be systematically carried out in the classroom, in accordance with the principle of reception-oriented pluricentric teaching. The aim of this approach is to familiarise students with the sound of Swiss German at an early stage and to make them aware of the lexical, morphological and phonetic differences between different varieties of German. The selection of this variety is based on the fact that Swiss diglossia facilitates the differentiation between the non-standard and standard varieties, as there are no mixed forms in contrast with the language landscape which is characterised by the standard-dialect continuum. Additionally, the similarities between Swiss German and Alemannic dialects spoken in southern Germany and western Austria make learning this variety useful for the acquisition of numerous other varieties. |
