The article reveals the theoretical foundations of the formation of the ecological culture of future teachers of professional education. Ecological culture, defined as a generalized characteristic of an individual, which, integrating a set of ideas about nature, an emotional-sensual and valuable attitude towards it, general scientific and professional knowledge about ecology, relevant skills and abilities, forms an inseparable unity of ecological consciousness, ecological thinking, ecological responsibility and environmental behavior. The conclusions that determine the theoretical basis of the research are formulated: ecological culture should be considered from the standpoint of civilizational, cultural, axiological, co-evolutionary approaches as a component, a stage of universal human culture. The analysis of scientific works and the study of the state of educational practice show that the formation of the environmental culture of future teachers of professional (vocational and technical) education institutions is characterized by the level of: 1)development of beliefs, motives, value orientations, ethical feelings regarding environmental problems and awareness of the need to protect the environment; 2)assimilation of general scientific knowledge on ecology and professional knowledge on environmental safety of the motor vehicle complex; 3)involvement in practical activities related to the implementation of environmental protection measures and environmental projects in the field of road transport. ; У статті розкриті теоретичні засади формування екологічної культури майбутніх викладачів професійної освіти. Екологічна культура, визначена як узагальнена характеристика особистості, яка, інтегруючи сукупність уявлень про природу, емоційно-чуттєве й ціннісне ставлення до неї, загальнонаукових і професійних знань про екологію, відповідні вміння та навички, утворює нерозривну єдність екологічної свідомості, екологічного мислення, екологічної відповідальності і екологічної поведінки.
