The present work analyzes the relationship between alternative and agroecological agriculture based on the examination of the resistance experience of the Vaca Morta community, in the municipality of Três Arroios - RS. The focus of the analysis is on the community reaction to the process of capitalist modernization of agriculture through the development of agriculture as an alternative. E. P. Thompson's concept of historical experience is used to understand the process of social organization of the community, which, in the midst of the historical context of the struggle against the Military Regime and for the democratization of the Brazilian State, establishes actions that strengthened the collective and productive organization of the Alto Uruguai region - RS, capable of launching the social and technological bases for the gestation of agroecological agriculture in the region. ; O presente trabalho analisa a relação entre a agricultura alternativa e a agroecológica a partir do exame da experiência de resistência da comunidade Vaca Morta, no município de Três Arroios - RS. O foco da análise reside na reação da comunidade ao processo de modernização capitalista da agricultura através do desenvolvimento da agricultura como alternativa. O conceito de experiência histórica de E. P. Thompson é utilizado para compreender o processo de organização social da comunidade, a qual, em meio ao contexto histórico de luta contra o Regime Militar e pela democratização do Estado brasileiro, estabelece ações que fortaleceram a organização coletiva e produtiva da região do Alto Uruguai - RS, capaz de lançar as bases sociais e tecnológicas para a gestação da agricultura agroecológica na região.
