| الوصف: | Hatred is distinguished from democratic opinion by its harmful intent. The dissemination of hate speech (Paz-Rebollo et al., 2020) through social media is characterized by its virulence (Zamora-Medina et al., 2021; Moreno & Morales, 2022), especially when directed towards the political class, and particularly towards women who are questioned differently than their male counterparts (Soriano, 2019). This violence triggers an anti-feminist reaction (Wilhelm & Joeckel, 2018) characterized by extreme misogyny, reactivity, and a tendency towards personal attacks (Bonet-Martín, 2020). Thus, the aggression exerted by haters against this vulnerable group is contaminating the public sphere and negatively impacting the quality of democracies. Based on this reality, the present research seeks to identify and analyze expressions of hatred directed towards the five women candidates for the presidency of the Community of Madrid (Isabel Díaz of the Popular Party, Mónica García of Más Madrid, Rocío Monasterio of Vox, Alejandra Jacinto of Podemos, IU and Alianza Verde, and Aruca Gómez of Ciudadanos) in the comments made on their official Instagram accounts during the May 2023 election campaign. Additionally, it aims to examine hate discourses that may be related to both a female gender bias and other vulnerable groups through issues such as aporophobia or xenophobia, among others. The results reveal the fact that politics channels hatred towards female politicians with great intensity (Lacalle et al., 2023). ; El odio se distingue de la opinión democrática por su intención dañina.
