| الوصف: | Introduction: The smoking approach requires the understanding of practitioners' factors influencing clinical care of smokers. Objective: Identify behaviors, attitudes, and practices about smoking in a group of doctors in Bogotá, Colombia. Materials and methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study in medical students in their last year and medical doctors of an ambulatory primary care institution applying the Global Health Professional Students Survey. Results: the survey was applied to 200 subjects, with the participation of 89,5%. 72.5% were women; 32% of the participants were in their last year of undergraduate medicine. There is a greater understanding of the risks associated with smoking and the reasons for smoking by physicians in training (96.1%; p =0.01). Cessation training was greater in physicians in training (82.4%; p = 0.001). 73.6% of those surveyed consider that they are role models for their patients and the community, being higher among graduate physicians (78.9%; p = 0.04). The prevalence of tobacco and electronic cigarette use are higher in physicians in training. Conclusions: Inquiring about knowledge, attitudes and practices in physicians broadens the understanding of their role in the control and approach of smoking. It is important to review the curricular content and reinforce continuing education on smoking. ; Introducción: abordar el tabaquismo requiere la comprensión de factores de los profesionales que influyen sobre la atención clínica. Objetivo: Identificar comportamientos, actitudes y prácticas sobre tabaquismo en un grupo de médicos en Bogotá, Colombia. Materiales y métodos: Estudio descriptivo transversal mediante la Encuesta Mundial de Tabaquismo en Estudiantes de Profesiones de la Salud aplicada a estudiantes de pregrado de medicina de último año y médicos de una institución de cuidado primario ambulatorio.
