| الوصف: | When the effects of globalization process, which is experienced in our present day, the fast population increase, urbanization and climate change are considered, the amount and proper sharing of fresh water resources among different sectors has become one of the most important issues focused by decision-makers. Depending on this, measuring the amount and quality of the water used in a country in the production of the services and products consumed in it has become more important. Establishing economic connections by creating productivity among sectors and making plans depending on these connections will ensure that the development occurs in a sustainable way in environmental, economic and social terms. The protection of the water resources of Turkey is extremely important in terms of its own economic sustainability. One of the important components of water management is water efficiency, and one of the important sub-components of water efficiency is the use of water and water resources in a wise manner. The first approach that has to be applied in this respect is decreasing the water consumption per capita and in the society, both in production and consumption steps. To ensure this, first of all, it is necessary to determine the real, virtual and total water consumption for these units, in other words, to determine the footsteps of water. The determination of the footsteps of water in Turkey is extremely important in terms of making plans for future, developing solutions for problems, increasing water saving conscious within the society, ensuring the participation of stakeholders in this issue, and making necessary changes in national policies. |
