This article studies the incidence of the Burnout Syndrome assessed by the MBI (Maslach & Jackson, 1981) in a sample of professors from the College of Natural and Exact Sciences and Technology at the University of Panama.The results indicate a high level of burnout in the dimensions of Depersonalization and Emotional Exhaustion insome departments of the College, and High Professional Self-esteem in others. Variables such as marital status, age, having children or not, are not related to the degree of burnout. In regards to factors such as Years of Teaching and Academic degree, these are not related to the degree of burnout. ; En este artículo se estudia la incidencia del Síndrome de Burnout (desgaste profesional) evaluado mediante el MBI (Maslach y Jackson, 1981) en una muestra de profesores de la Facultad de Ciencias Naturales, Exactas y Tecnología de la Universidad de Panamá. Los resultados indican un nivel alto de burnout en las dimensiones Despersonalización y Agotamiento Emocional en algunos de los departamentos de la facultad y de alta Autoestima Profesional en otros. Variables como estado civil, edad, tener o no hijos, no están relacionadas con el grado de burnout. En cuanto a factores del perfil docente como los Años de Docencia y el Grado Académico tampoco están relacionados con el grado de desgaste. |
