François Mignard esquisse les raisons du désamour des jeunes chercheurs au cours du XXe siècle au profit d’une astrophysique naissante et triomphante mais croit en un nouvel âge d’or de l’astrométrie initié en 1975. ; The measurement of star positions is the realm of astrometry and is nearly as old as astronomy itself. In the first half of the 20th century astrometry went out of fashion compared to the rising astrophysics. A major change took place in France around 1970 with the start of CERGA and later the successful ESA Hipparcos mission which moved astrometry to space. With Gaia nearing launch now it is not excessive to talk of a new golden age of astrometry. |
