Brucellosis is a zoonotic infectious disease that involves the tissues andorgans of the reticuloendothelial system. Although splenomegaly may be seen inbrucellosis, spleen abscess or spleeninfarction has rarely been reported. Left upper quadrant pain and fever are themost common symptoms in splenic infarction. In this article, we present a79-year-old woman with splenic infarction due to brucellosis; she hadsplenectomy and was treated with antimicrobial therapy for brucellosis.
