الوصف: 5β-androstan-12-one 1 and 17β-methyl-5β-androstan-12-one 2 are efficient way from 12α-hydroxy-5β-cholan-24-oic acid 3a. The key steps in this conversion are photochemical degradation or decarboxylation with lead tetraacetate followed by double bond isomerization of the resulting olefins.
