It is an aggressive tumor that usually develops in patients with cirrhosis or chronic liver disease. Therefore, follow-up on these patients is essential for an early diagnosis. The only curative treatment is surgery, though an individual, multidisciplinary evaluation following confirmation of the diagnosis will determine the most appropriate treatment for each case.
