الوصف: | The authors deal with an approach to physics teaching based on the joint use of computer simulations and the history of physics. A package dealing with the fall of bodies was prepared and tested with students in introductory physics courses. They have aimed at improving students' understanding of fundamental concepts in kinematics favouring a comparison between the students' way of reasoning and the models underlying simulations. Galilei's inclined planes and Atwood's machine offered the students examples of original settings while a historical guide illustrated the original conceptual frameworks. First results suggest that the use of computer-simulated historical experiments can help one reach the above mentioned goals. |
