В 2022 г. на биологическом факультете Московского государственного университета имени М.В. Ломоносова была установлена мемориальная доска в память о жертвах лысенковского погрома в науке, инициированного августовской сессией ВАСХНИЛ 1948 г. На доске выбиты 22 имени тех сотрудников биологического факультета, которые были уволены или вынуждены уйти с биофака в 1948 г.
On the 24th of November 2022, a commemorative tablet was installed at the Biological Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) in memory of the victims of the Lysenkoist anti-science pogrom initiated by the August 1948 VASKhNIL session. After the session, the Soviet Minister of Higher Education issued an order forcing the main universities to fire the scientists and lecturers who were “involved in active struggle against the Michurinists and the Michurinist doctrine and did not provide education in the spirit of progressive Michurinist biology to Soviet youth.” This order contained the list of the most prominent scientists although the overall number of people fired, demoted or removed from leadership after the 1948 session was estimated as thousands. So far their names mostly remain unknown. The commemorative tablet set at the MSU Biological Faculty contains the names of 22 faculty members fired or forced to quit their jobs in 1948, and is meant to contribute to closing this gap (at least partly) in our knowledge about our predecessors. |
