الوصف:
This chapter examines a Protestant version of memorial meetings where it created a pluralist subject through its modular framing. The ability of rituals to allow people to live with differences breaks apart when people began to view performing rituals as making a personal statement of who they were and what they believed. Thus, rituals' modular framing started to lose its power to accommodate alterity. Some Protestants started to adopt a rewriting approach in their attempts to transform memorial meetings into a modular form and reframe memorial meetings with religious and relational rituals. The chapter explains how Protestantism and socialism challenged normative structures and narrowed the possibility for pluralism and pluralist subjectivity.
