مستخلص: | Conclusions In a short review it is difficult to give a complete picture of the nuclear-physical investigations performed on ESA. The examples presented indicate the enormous range of subjects and the techniques used in these investigations. The contribution of ESA to the development of modern concepts of nuclear structure and nuclear reaction mechanisms is incomparably greater than any other instrument used in nuclear physics. These instruments also turned out to be exceptionally useful for solving applied problems and for investigations in different areas of science. The transfer of research techniques based on the use of ESA and concepts of nuclear physics to atomic and molecular problems has been reflected in optical spectroscopy, in investigations of the Lamb shift in strongly ionized heavy ions, in diverse experiments on atom-atom and atom-molecule scattering, and in investigations of collisions between charged particles and of charge transport processes. |
