The author reflects on the shaping of nurses' professional identities. She suggests that the 2010 Institute of Medicine (IOM) report "The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health" and its recommendations have the potential to shape the professional identities of a new generation of nurses. She argues that introducing undergraduate nurses to the IOM report and introducing them to mentoring relationships will help develop their professional identities and improve their nursing skills. |
