The article analyzes the aesthetics of the picture books for children written and illustrated by Austrian author and illustrator Angelika Kaufmann including "Das einsame Schaf," "Cäcelie," and "Der Mond". Information on the awards and prizes received by Kaufmann for her work is presented, the publishing houses with which she has worked are listed, and themes of Kaufmann's works including empathy for people and animals, social isolation, and war are examined. The role played in her books by Kauffman's own recollections of childhood as well as her observation of communication with children is discussed. |
