The article focuses on the taxonomic changes in the 53rd Supplement to the Check-list of North American Birds published by the American Ornithologists' Union (AOU) in July 2012. The scientific names of the genus Eastern Whip-poor-will and Chuck-will's-widow are A. vociferus and A. carolinensis, respectively. The sole member of the genus Stellula (S. calliope) is the Calliope hummingbird. Moreover, the locations of falcons and caracaras are the biggest changes in the checklist. |
