مستخلص: The article discusses the sudden death of a mongrel dog in Brazil caused by the rupture of the thoracic aorta due to the presence of Angiostrongylus vasorum or French heartworm. The dog came from the breeding facilities of the Federal University of Minas Gerais and underwent physical examinations by a veterinarian before and after inoculation by oral route. Several larvae and adult females of the parasitic nematodes were found in the dog's aorta when necrospy was performed after the death of the animal.
