The article discusses the results of a study that determined the effects of chronic enteropathy in 21 Shiba dogs. The materials and methods of the study are discussed, including clinical cases and analysis of clinical signs and symptoms and laboratory findings. The study noted serious histopathological lesion in the Shiba's duodenum as a common occurrence. A comparison of the survival rates for Shiba dogs is given. It concludes that Shiba dogs are susceptible to chronic enteropathy and poor outcomes and severity of duodenum lesions are indications of a breed-specific disease. |
