The article discusses a study which characterized the cytopathic effect of bovine respiratory syncytial virus (BRSV) strain RC 98 isolated in Argentina on Hep-2 cell cultures through immunocytochemistry. Viral specific signals in the cytoplasm and nucleus were observed in all infected Hep-2 cell cultures. The study found that viral glycoproteins in the rough endoplasmic reticulum could trigger perinuclear reaction. It is said that the nuclear signal identified in the study might be linked with the multiplicity of infection. |
