مستخلص: |
The article focuses on the role of stories in language teaching and learning. The richness and variety of content inherent to stories enables them to be utilized in all the subject areas of the curriculum, facilitating at the same time the integration of four of the main language skills, listening, speaking, reading and writing. Stories are a valuable educational resource that can help motivate pupils in classrooms. Working with stories should not be a sporadic activity, rather stories should be pervasive to all areas of the curriculum such as physical education, mathematics and other traditional content areas. In line with the philosophy of whole language teaching and learning, educators can use tales to achieve these specific goals, to analyze, process and respond to spoken texts, to express ideas and information in spoken form, to analyze, process and respond to printed texts, to express ideas and information in written form; to collect, analyze and organize information and to understand aspects of the target culture. |
