The boat, based on offsets published in John Gardner's book Building Classic Small Craft, is an interpretation of the Rangeley Lakes, Maine, fly-fishing boats of the late 1800s and early 1900s. Her hull is fiberglass-sheathed meranti plywood and the deck planking is African sapele. This Glen-L Malahini, 16' LOA with a beam of 6> 6", was built by first-time boatbuilder Tom Juring and fulfilled a lifelong dream to build his own boat. These pages, along with the Boat Launchings section of www. woodenboat.com, are dedicated to sharing recently launched wooden boats built or restored by our readers. [Extracted from the article] |
