Abstract (Spanish): Introduction: Spain's General Law of Health allowed the development of nursing consultation, both scheduled and on-demand.Objective: To determine the proportion of ondemand and scheduled consultations in our center and to define users' main reasons for attending the on-demand service.Material and Method: Observational study (crosssectional descriptive). Stratified random sample of patients attending nursing consultations over one week. Main variables: age, type of consultation, reasons for attendance, scheduled consultation, ondemand consultation. Results: Twenty-eight percent of visits were scheduled while 72% were on-demand.Reasons for consultations: procedures or techniques in 57.5%; drug prescriptions in 39.2%, other in 3.3%.Discussion: Most patients required techniques or drug prescriptions. Nurses made an effort to perform other activities apart from those generated by the consultation. There is wide variation among the studies published in the medical literature and between these and the present study. Nursing services should become more widely known among the general public.
