مستخلص: The Oropouche virus (OROV), a member of the Orthobunyavirus genus, poses a significant public health challenge due to its potential for vertical transmission and lack of approved vaccines or antiviral treatments. Recent outbreaks have highlighted the association of OROV infection in pregnant women with severe outcomes, including spontaneous abortions, congenital anomalies, and fetal deaths. This letter to the editor emphasizes the need for a multifaceted approach to address the potential for vertical transmission of OROV, including the use of small animal models, detailed pathological studies, and robust preventive measures. We stress the importance of increased clinician awareness, timely patient management, and a One Health surveillance program to mitigate the risks associated with OROV infection during pregnancy.
