مستخلص: |
The article published in Lung India explores the prevalence of Aspergillus colonization (AC) and sensitization (AS) in patients hospitalized with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The study found that AC, AS, and allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) were present in a subset of patients, with AC identified in 11.9% of subjects. Despite a higher prevalence of AS in the study compared to previous meta-analyses, there were no significant differences in clinical outcomes between Aspergillus-positive and negative subjects. The study suggests the need for larger studies to further investigate the association between AS or AC and bronchiectasis in COPD patients. [Extracted from the article] |
