مستخلص: |
Internal combustion engine (ICE) represents the main pillar of the powertrain in the majority of road, marine freight, and transportation worldwide. With the absence of a real alternative that can replace ICE over its full range of applications, enhancing the efficiency of ICE is of great interest to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The tribological impact of (Graphene oxide) GO-coated engine cylinder liner is compared with uncoated Diesel engine liner using by SILAR method for low friction, better lubricity and high wear resistance. Its tribological performance was evaluated through a reciprocating tribometer, using steel ball (100 CR6) on a GO-coated cylinder liner testing with 5W-40 engine oil to investigate their wear and friction behaviour in boundary lubrication regime. Tribotests showed less friction in GO coating related to the uncoated liner. As a result, the range of tribological performance achieved in the present work suggested that SILAR-grown GO films will be feasible for the implementation of a protective layer for the engine cylinder liners.
