| Abstract (English): |
The study aimed to investigate the reality of scientific critical thinking skills among second intermediate grade students in Khamis Mushait and identify the challenges they face in acquiring such skills. The descriptive methodology was employed. A questionnaire, administered to a sample of 40 teachers from both public and private schools, was used as the data collection tool. The study key findings showed that the overall level of scientific thinking skills among second intermediate grade students in Khamis Mushait was low, with a mean score of 2.35 and a standard deviation of 0.16. In terms of specific domains, scientific communication (domain 5) ranked first, albeit at a low level, while classification skill (domain 4) ranked last. Furthermore, the study revealed that the overall challenges facing second intermediate grade students in acquiring scientific thinking skills were very high, with a mean score of 4.42 and a standard deviation of 0.40. هدفت الدراسة إلى توضيح واقع مهارات التفكير العلمي لدى طلاب الصف الثاني المتوسط في خميس مشيط وتحديد التحديات التي تواجه طلاب الصف الثاني متوسط في امتلاك مهارات التفكير العلمي في خميس مشيط، واستخدمت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي، وتم اعتماد الاستبانة أداة لجمع البيانات التي تم تطبيقها على عينةٍ بلغ عددها (40) معلما من المدارس الحكومية والأهلية، وأظهرت النتائج أن واقع مهارات التفكير العلمي لدى طلاب الصف الثاني المتوسط في خميس مشيط ككل جاءت بمتوسطٍ حسابيٍ "2.35" بدرجةٍ منخفضةٍ وانحراف معياري "0.16 "أما فيما يتعلق بالمجالات الفرعية فقد جاء المجال رقم (5) (مهارة التواصل العلمي) في المرتبة الأولى بدرجةٍ منخفضة وفي المرتبة الأخيرة فقد جاء المجال رقم (4) (مهارة التصنيف)، كما بينت النتائج أن واقع التحديات التي تواجه طلاب الصف الثاني المتوسط في امتلاك مهارات التفكير العلمي في خميس مشيط ككل جاءت بمتوسطٍ حسابيٍ "4.42" بدرجةٍ مرتفعةٍ جدا وانحراف معياري " 0.40 "، أما فيما يتعلق بالمجالات الفرعية فقد جاء المجال رقم (3) (التحديات المتعلقة بالبيئة المدرسية) في المرتبة الأولى بدرجةٍ مرتفعةٍ جدا وفي المرتبة الأخيرة فقد جاء المجال رقم (2) (تحديات متعلقة بالمعلم).
