| Abstract (English): |
This study aims to shed light on Al-Jawf dialect in terms of defining its environment and general phenomena, monitoring some of its common forms and expressions, presenting fragments of its heritage in wisdom and literature, studying a sample of its vocabulary, identifying the change in meaning that occurred to it, and explaining its relationship to the classical Arabic language and the Yemeni dialects. The sample numbered (72) words, which were selected intentionally. The study adopted the descriptive and inductive approaches in dealing with and analyzing phenomena, as well as the historical and comparative approaches. It also relied on collecting linguistic material, and explaining its meaning through listening and living, in addition to a group of family and relatives in Al-Jawf via WhatsApp application to increase investigation and scrutiny. The study reached several results, the most prominent of which are: Al-Jawf dialect shares the vocabulary of the sample with the Classical Arabic language, and its usage is identical to it in more than half of it. The forms of semantic development in the dialect is the specification, generalization, and transfer of meaning. The dialect uses rare vocabulary briefly mentioned in Language dictionaries, and it shares some vocabulary with the modern Yemeni dialects, but sometimes differs from them in its use. لزيادة التحري والتدقيق وتوصلت الدراسة إلى عدة نتائج من أبرزها: تشترك اللهجة الجوفية مع اللية العربيلة الفصحى فلي مفلردات العينلة، ويتطلابق استعمالها معها في أكثر من نصلفها، وملن صور التطور الدلالي في اللهجلة تخصلي الدلالة وتعميمها ونقلهلا، وتسلتعمل اللهجلة مفردات نادرة ذكرتها معلاجم الليلة بشلكل مقتوب، وتشترك في بعل المفلردات ملع اللهجات اليمنية الحديثة وتختلف معهلا فلي استعمال بعوها، كما نجد فيها مفردات من لية النقوش اليمنية القديمة.
