مستخلص: |
Various semiconductor-based composite sensor pellets comprising of ZnO-SnO2 as the substrate and Lanthanum as the dopant were prepared for the detection of carbon monoxide gas. The starting material, Lanthanum solution was phase transformed by calcinations, from LaCl3 to LaOCl and La2O3 over temperature ranges of 300°C to 850°C. X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) investigations were used to characterize the chemical and structural properties of these materials. Sensor pellets were made and utilized to test the response to 200 ppm of carbon monoxide at temperatures ranging from 50 to 300°C. The results revealed that pellets containing the La2O3 phase, calcined at 850°C with a lanthanum content of 0.75 × 10−2 M La, had the best CO sensitivity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
