| Abstract (English): |
The standards DIN EN 1838 and DIN EN 50172 were revised in June 2022 and June 2023, respectively, and contain the most important requirements for the planning, installation, and operation of emergency lighting. There are changes and innovations regarding the application of the standards, the lighting of specific areas, and the positioning of rescue signs. DIN EN 50172 also stipulates that emergency lighting must become effective in the event of a general lighting failure and sets certain requirements for the electrical system and luminaires. The two draft standards DIN EN 1838 and DIN EN 50172 were published in June 2022 and June 2023, respectively. The documentation for emergency lighting must include a schematic drawing, detailed drawing, lists of the exact types and positions of the facilities, operating and maintenance instructions, as well as a commissioning protocol. The tests before initial operation and during operation have been updated in the standards. There are also informative annexes for determining the operating time and switching time, as well as for conducting photometric measurements of emergency lighting.
