The article discusses the possibility that U.S. mutual fund company Vanguard might be forced to pay back taxes for the low fees it charges to manage retirement funds, then raise fees to cover those taxes and leave investors with less profit. Former Vanguard tax lawyer David Danon has turned whistleblower, claiming that the low fees are an illegal tax dodge. It adds that Danon collected a whistleblower's bounty from Texas which audited Vanguard in 2014, and could collect more from other states. |
