مستخلص: After more than fifteen years of reviews and inquiries, dating back at least as far as the Industry Commission's 1995 Charitable Organisations in Australia report, the last few years have seen the minimalist approach to reform of not-for-profit sector regulation replaced by a flurry of activity. Significantly, the reform agenda has included the creation of Australia's first federal not-for-profit-focused regulator and the adoption of a comprehensive statutory definition of 'charity'. However, with the Coalition's 2013 federal election victory, it appears that this reform 'window' has closed and, indeed, that the questions are: how far will the Coalition seek to take the not-for-profit sector 'back to the future' by rolling back reforms, and what effects might this have?
