The article focuses on the dilemma of Choson in traditional Chinese texts. Chinese scholars agree that the nationalistic, social and cultural environment of independent Korea influenced the development of Korean studies. Korean historiography throughout the second half of the twentieth century was affected by the racial history of Korean independence from the Japanese imperialism. Post-1945 Korean historians in the South sought for Korea's national origin and relied on Ko Choson studies. |
