مستخلص: |
This article examines the risk factors and prevalence of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in patients undergoing major surgeries. It highlights the importance of understanding factors such as age, obesity, smoking, malignancy, and medical conditions, which contribute to two-thirds of initial DVT episodes. The study conducted at a government hospital found that 24% of patients developed DVT, with males and older age groups being more prone to it. Risk factors for DVT included higher BMI, smoking, previous chemotherapy or radiotherapy, general anesthesia, and longer surgery duration. Preoperative DVT prophylaxis is crucial for high-risk patients to reduce DVT incidence post-surgery. [Extracted from the article] |
