The Manitoba Association of Landscape Architects (MALA) is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024 and inviting all members of the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA) to attend their congress in Winnipeg. MALA was formed in 1974 and has since grown and developed, with initiatives such as an Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Committee and a Communications Committee for outreach and promotion of the profession. MALA has faced challenges, including financial struggles in its early years, but has continued to expand and pursue legal protection and recognition for the profession. They have a number of celebrations planned for 2024, including tobogganing, curling, golf, and a promotional video. MALA has a good relationship with the University of Manitoba's MLA program and has been accepted as a member of the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB). The hands of landscape architects can be seen in various projects across the province, and MALA encourages people to explore the landscapes of Manitoba. [Extracted from the article] |
