An artificial intelligence (AI) developed by Google DeepMind called GNoME has predicted millions of inorganic crystal structures, expanding our knowledge from 48,000 to over 2 million. While some of these structures may not be stable or feasible to create, over 700 predictions have already been made in the lab. GNoME is a graph neural network that learns the relationships between atoms and their chemical bonds, and it has been trained on an existing database of known inorganic crystals. The predictions made by GNoME have been independently verified and found to be at least 70% accurate.
